Many times I have faced this situation and struggled a lot. After researching and goggling, at last I found how to recover from it without using any third party antivirus.
Note: But it will not delete the Recycler file and Autorun virus from the USB but surely it will delete all the shortcut folders from the drive. Something is better than Nothing!!!
Note: I have not used any kind of 3rd party software to delete the shortcut folder.
The steps I followed:
1. Please plug your affected pen drive or USB drive,Hard Disk any, to your system.
2. Just press the Windows button + R to open Run box and type cmd and press enter key to open the command prompt.
3.In the opened command prompt ,open your driver by enter your drive letter as shown in the below fig. I have the shortcut folder in the G drive, that's why I mentioned the same in the command prompt.
4. Now type del *.lnk and press enter key. Here you need to wait for some time.It will process a program background.
5. Finally type the below command and hit Enter. (without double quotes)
“attrib -s -r -h *.* /s /d /l”
Just wait for some seconds and after that go to your drive location and refresh the page ,you will see know you are not finding any short cut folder in your driver.
Important: The above steps only helps you to delete the shortcut folders in your driver but not the virus. To permanently delete the virus i.e autorun ,you need to instal some software like AVG,KesperSky and many more trial version's are present in the google .please download the software and try to install and scan the particular drive.
